Riley, It’s Play Time!

It's Play Time!

It’s Play Time!

Riley seemed happy to discover a playmate with whom he could play. If I could read Riley’s mind based on his behavior, he would be saying, “For so long I have had healing responsibilities that I forgot what it was like to be a puppy dog. This is great stuff. I really dig being a puppy dog. Thanks for being my friend, Buddy. Let’s go play!”

Riley had dedicated so much of his life to being a Therapeutic Nurse; well, it choked me up with tears of joy to see Riley playing like a little dog with his new dog friend.

Silly, they were only dogs, but as I watched Riley and Buddy chase around the home, tears filled my eyes. Riley had dedicated so much of his life to being a Therapeutic Nurse; well, it choked me up with tears of joy to see Riley playing like a little dog with his new dog friend. To me the feeling I was having was similar to the feeling I have when a participant on American Idol who has experienced a hard time in life discovers they have a good singing voice and is chosen to go to Hollywood. You can’t help but experiencing their joy and happiness.

I realized that it is not so much what we do for the dogs as it is the safe and caring atmosphere we create that makes a difference.

Recognizing that Raymond and I helped create special moments like these through our dog sitting, it made our dog sitting more precious. Providing a safe and caring atmosphere for the dogs made me increasingly grateful for Raymond’s and my loving relationship. I realized that it is not so much what we do for the dogs as it is the safe and caring atmosphere we create that makes a difference. I believe Cesar Millan would agree. Cesar Millan teaches that calm, assertive energy is best for training dogs – it provides them with an environment conducive to carrying out their Canine Purpose.
